Blocktoberfest, Birding, EMAN This Week in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy

Chestnut Hill College will also host a lecture on Red Dwarf Stars this week.

East Mt. Airy NeighborsEMAN's next Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 7:30 PM.   Meetings at held at the EMAN office on the campus of the Lutheran Theological Seminary (7301 Germantown Avenue).  

BlocktoberfestThe West Mt. Airy Blocktoberfest officially gets underway on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7:45 a.m. at the Allens Lane Train Station.  There will be a 5K run and a 2K walk followed by block parties scattered throughout the neighborhood.

Chestnut Hill College LectureRev. Frank Haig, S.J., Ph.D., professor emeritus of physics at Loyola University, Maryland and Scott Engle, Ph.D., adjunct professor of astronomy at Villanova University and Chestnut Hill College present the lecture, “Red Dwarf Stars and Little Green People?” on Wednesday, October 2, at 7 p.m. at the Commonwealth Chateau, SugarLoaf Hill campus. This lecture is sponsored by the Institute for Religion and Science at Chestnut Hill College.

Birding in the WissahickonLed by Ruth Pfeffer 
Join us for a morning of birding in the Wissahickon section of Fairmount Park. We will meet at Forbidden Drive and stroll along the beautiful Wissahickon Creek, a hotspot for birding in our area and a beautiful natural environment. In this green corridor we hope to see some of the birds that migrate to this area as well as resident and nesting birds. Meet in the Wissahickon section of Fairmount Park at the concrete picnic tables at the intersection of Bells Mill Road and Forbidden Drive. Bring binoculars.
