Water Tower, Teens Inc. Prepare for Clean-Up

The clean-up will be combined with a flea market to raise funds for a service trip for Teens, Inc.

Teens, Inc. and the Water Tower Recreation Center are teaming up for this year’s Philly Spring Clean-Up. Combined with an Earth Day Flea Market, the event will be family-friendly and go to support an international service project in Antigua, Guatemala.

The event will be held at the Water Tower Rec. Center April 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Last year’s city-wide clean-up was a success, as the Water Tower released the following statistics on the 2011 event throughout Philadelphia:

  • 252 project sites (the most projects ever registered for a Philly Spring Cleanup)
  • 12,574 volunteers
  • 1,240,360 pounds of trash removed
  • 149,860 pounds of material recycled
  • 1,104 blocks cleaned
  • 3,750 recycling bins distributed
  • 255 Recycling Rewards signups
  • 7,280 tires removed
  • 28 parks and 17 recreation centers cleaned
