Indigo Schuy Owner to Run for a Good Cause

Schuyler Nunn will participate in the Nike Women's Marathon in October.

Schuyler Nunn doesn't just sell active wear, she is active in more than one way. In October, Nunn will be among the 20,000 people from across the country and around the world to be part of the 9th Annual Nike Women’s Marathon, a race to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) in San Francisco.

Nunn is able to train for the marathon and raise money at the same time for cancer research as part of a sports endurance charity training program, Team in Training (TNT). This will be her third event with the program.

“My first event was in 2008 when I joined with two friends to train for the Philadelphia Triathlon Olympic Distance,” said Nunn. “We signed up with a goal to finish the triathlon, while helping to fundraise for a worthwhile cause.”

TNT participants have the option of running or walking a full or half marathon, cycling a 100-mile century bike ride, or completing a triathlon. In addition to weekly training sessions under the guidance of a certified coach, TNT offers clinics on nutrition, equipment, injury prevention and safety. Participants are also given tools to help them fundraise. TNT also arranges airfare and lodging to send participants to the event of their choice.

“I am in the process of training with Team In Training and I have already met some amazing people,” said Nunn. “I look forward to getting to know them even better on our journey towards our goals of completing the marathon.”

Nunn and her husband, Steve, decided to open when they recognized the need for a local active boutique. The store features local and nationally recognized active wear clothing lines. She and her husband, along with their two children, live in Wyndmoor.

There will be an informational meeting on the program to learn more at Indigo Schuy on Thursday, Aug. 2 at 6:30 p.m. or visit www.teamintraining.org/epa.
