Hundreds of runners will soon descend on Forbidden Drive for the Wissahickon Trail Classic.
The June 4 event begins at Northwestern Avenue and Forbidden Drive at the northern end of the Wissahickon and features a 10-kilometer trail run and a 5-kilometer walk.
"It's a trail race that has everything: Hills, flats, beauty and a covered bridge," five-time finisher Chris Verry said in a news release.

The route runs along various trails throughout the park.
The Wissahickon Restoration Volunteers (WRV) organize the annual event on National Trails Day with the help of the Wissahickon Wanderers,Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, U.S. Track and Field Mid-Atlantic and the American Hiking Society. All proceeds benefit WRV.

The deadline for early bird Registration is May 18, and applications are available on the race website. Prices can be seen there as well. Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities are also available.
