Pomp and Circumstances: A Preview to the CHA and Springside Graduations

The graduations are at 5 p.m. on June 14 and 15.

This week, two groups of area students will leave high school and start the next phase of their life, as both Chestnut Hill Academy and Springside School have their graduations.

Chestnut Hill Academy

June 14, at 5 p.m., 53 students from Chestnut Hill Academy will be graduating. Two members of the senior class, C Griffin Horter and Daniel A. DiIulio, will be speaking on behalf of their classmates at the ceremony.

Before the event, the school holds Prize Day in the Woodward Gym. According to Deidra Lyngard, Director of Communications for CHA, many parents attend both Prize Day and the graduation. Families and other guests are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes before the graduation, or Prize Day if they choose to attend, as the events will become more crowded as the afternoon wears on.

The graduation will take place in the school’s courtyard on Willow Grove Avenue, if weather permits. In the case of inclement weather, the graduation will be moved to the Kingsley Gymnasium.

Those attending the day’s events can park in the middle school parking lot off Willow Grove Avenue. There will also be angled parking on Willow Grove.

Springside School

One day after CHA’s graduation, 52 students from the Springside School will be donning their caps and gowns. The graduation will take place June 15, 5 p.m., under a tent in the playing field behind the school.

Priscilla Sands, Head of School will be speaking at the graduation, along with Nicole Volgraf on behalf of the Class of 2011. Graduating senior Amanda Culp will be giving the Senior Comment.

Karen Tracy, Director of Communications for the school, said that parents begin arriving as early as 4 p.m., but the school recommends coming around 4:30.

Parking will be directed by the school’s security team, and Tracy added that parking along the streets adjacent to the school is an easy way to go, including on Willow Grove Avenue and by the McCallum Street bridge.

Chestnut Hill Patch wants to congratulate the Class of 2011 on all of their hard work. We will have extensive coverage on both the Chestnut Hill Academy and Springside School graduations.
