Lincoln Drive Repair Work to Close Parking, Lanes

The Street Department announced the retaining wall needs to be rehabilitated.

Record rainfall in 2011 has caused some long-term damage to the retaining wall supporting Lincoln Drive, according to a Philadelphia Department of Streets.

In a press release, the city has announced that work will begin Feb. 7 to repair the wall between West Rittenhouse Street and Forbidden Drive. The city is calling the construction “emergency repair work,” which will include stabilizing 500 feet of stone masonry, according to the press release.

The construction work will last about two months, beginning Tuesday, and will close parking in that area on the southbound side of Lincoln Drive during that time. The department added that lane closure could occur at off-peak hours, but detours are not expected.
