Police Blotter: An Art Thief in Chestnut Hill

Burglary … A resident of the 7600 block of Crittenden Street reported Aug. 29, 7 a.m., that her back door was open when she came home from work, and a Dell laptop, valued at $900, was missing, police said.

Theft … A resident o the 200 block of East Willow Grove Avenue reported Aug. 27, 8:49 a.m., that someone took his pension heck out of his mailbox, police said.

Theft from auto … A resident of the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue reported Aug. 26 that someone broke the passenger-side window on his car and two bags and a cell phone, with a combined value of $230, was missing, police said.

Theft … A resident of the 8400 block of Germantown Avenue reported Aug. 23, 4 p.m., that someone had taken her wallet from the back of a store and used her credit card for $200 in unauthorized purchases, police said.

Theft … A resident of the 8700 block of Prospect Avenue reported Aug. 24, 12 p.m., that someone took two credit cards from her purse and used them in various locations, police said.

Theft … An employee of Metropolitan Bakery, 8403 Germantown Ave., reported Aug. 23, 5 p.m., that someone took her wallet out of the back room of the store, police said.

Theft … A resident of the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue reported Aug. 24, 12 a.m., that her art students told her that someone was selling her paintings online and those paintings were missing from her inventory, police said.

Theft … A resident of the 200 block of East Mermaid Lane reported Aug. 23, 11 a.m., that two mountain bikes, valued at $110, were missing from her back yard, police said.

Theft from auto … A woman reported Aug. 22, 5:50 p.m., that while she was parked outside Valley Green Inn, 7 Valley Green Road, her purse was taken from the trunk of her car, police said.
