Police Blotter: A Dental Break-In

The following information has been supplied by the 14th District of the Philadelphia Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Theft … A resident of the 300 block of East Willow Grove Avenue reported May 22, 12 p.m., that she found her front door unlocked and later found that a pair of sunglasses, a pair of headphones and an external hard drive, valued in total at $210, were missing, police said.

Retail theft … An employee of Staples, 7700 Germantown Ave., reported June 3, 8:15 a.m., that a man left the store with a 100-pack of DVD-Rs, valued at $54, without  paying, police said. According to police, Edward Pleasant, 34, of the 7100 block of Charles Street, was arrested soon after at Germantown Avenue and Durham Road, and the merchandise was recovered.

Burglary … An employee of Chestnut Hill Dental Lab, 2 E. Chestnut Hill Ave., reported May 31, 8 a.m., that when she left for the weekend, she had locked the door and when she returned, the lock was damaged and the door appeared to have been pried open, although nothing was missing, police said.

Theft … A resident of the 1000 block of Southampton Avenue reported May 31, 5 p.m., that she had locked up her bike at Germantown Avenue and Gravers Lane at approximately 12 p.m., and when she returned, the bike, a blue 19-inch speed mountain bike with a silver bell on the handlebar, valued at $100, was gone, police said.
