Police: Attempted Robbery by Handgun Friday on Southampton Ave

According to 14th District police reports, the incident occurred Friday.

According to police, a 46-year-old man reported June 15, that around 10:15 p.m. he was approached by two men while sitting in his car on the unit block of East Southampton Avenue.

At first, one of the men asked for a light. The victim responded that he didn't smoke, and then men left. They returned a short time later and knocked on the car window with a handgun, police said.

According to police, the man hit the gas and drove away. There were no inuries and nothing was taken. The victim described one of the men as a black male, about 5'7" and 140 pounds with a dark complexion. He was wearing a white tee shirt and blue jeans at the time. The second man was described only as a white male.
