Burglaries: Four Homes and an Office

A list of burglaries that occurred over the last week in Chestnut Hill.

Maybe it's because summer takes so many people out of town, but there were five burglaries in Chestnut Hill over the last week. One was in a medical office, but the other four were private residences, including the home of someone out of town:

  • Willow Grove Avenue: A resident of the 100 block of East Willow Grove Avenue reported Aug. 18, 8:40 p.m., that he heard noises from his kitchen and found that the window in the kitchen had been forced open and that items from the windowsill were lying on the ground outside of his home, police said, but no one was seen in or outside of the house.
  • Hilltop Road: A medical office on the unit block of Hilltop Road reported being burglarized Aug. 18, 8:30 a.m. Although the report does not list anything missing, fingerprints were processed by police as belonging to Terrence Paulk, unknown age, who was already being held by police, according to the report.
  • Crefeld Street: A neighbor who was checking in on a home on the 7700 block of Crefeld Street while the owners are on vacation reported Aug. 18, 6 p.m., that he discovered the front door had been broken into and that a 52-inch television, valued at $1,500, was missing, police said.
  • Highland Avenue: A resident of the unit block of West Highland Avenue reported Aug. 16, 7 p.m., that when he returned home he found broken glass on his front door and a side window, and someone rummaged through bedroom drawers, but nothing appeared to be missing, police said.
  • Germantown Avenue: A resident of the 7800 block of Germantown Avenue reported Aug. 14, 5:20 p.m., that someone had entered her apartment by cutting a screen on the front window, and $3,000 in jewelry and a piggy bank with about $90 in quarters was missing, police said.
