Apartment Fire at Wyndmoor Gardens

Fire trucks blocked part of the 200 block of East Willow Grove Avenue late Saturday night for a fire on the second floor of .

Bernard Jones, the assistant night manager of the apartment building, said that everyone was out of the apartments, as far as he knew.

According to Jones, who lives just below the apartment where the fire began, the fire alarms went off shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night.

The residents of Wyndmoor Gardens, 219 E. Willow Grove Ave., were watching from the parking lot as firefighters entered the building.

Firefighters on the scene could not yet say what was the cause of the fire or how extensive was the damage.

“My apartment is right under it. I don’t know what to expect. I hope it’s not too bad,” said Jones.

Firefighters were still on the scene shortly after midnight Sunday.
