Wissahickon Water Quality Lecture Scheduled

The lecture will take place Dec. 13.

Friends of the Wissahickon will host a lecture called "Trends in Water Quality of the Wissahickon Creek" on Dec. 13 at .

The free lecture will be given by the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association's Dennis Pennington and will begin at 6:30 p.m. Seats are limited and registration is encouraged.

Pennington has more than 38 years of experience in hazardous waste and ground water investigations and remediation, according to the Friends of the Wissahickon. His presentation will address the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association (WVWA) water quality monitoring program.

WVWA has 11 sampling stations along the Wissahickon Creek and Sandy Run, the largest tributary to the Wissahickon Creek. Pennington will discuss major trends of the potential pollutants and will talk about how WVWA intends to use the data to plan restoration and identify areas of environmental concern.
