While most stores and restaurants are open for Martin Luther King Day Monday, there are a variety of institutions that have the holiday off.
MLK Day is a bank holiday, so banks throughout Chestnut Hill will be closed. Post offices, including both in Chestnut Hill, will be closed as well.
Schools will be closed to encourage students to use the holiday as a day of service, including J. S. Jenks and Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.

City offices will be closed. Because of that, trash and recycling pickup will be pushed back one day throughout the week. Chestnut Hill Library will also be closed for the holiday.
