Flour Recalled for Blue Balls

Bags of flour are being recalled because they may contain small blue polyurethane balls.

  Check your kitchen if you buy King Arthur flour. The company is recalling certain 5 pound bags due to the possible presence of small (7-9 mm) blue polyurethane balls, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reports. The balls are used during the sifting process. The balls are made from food-grade material, measure about half the diameter of a dime and are easily seen due to their blue color, according to King Arthur Flour. Bread Recalled For Possible Wire

Eight different types of bread are being recalled due to a faulty screen.

The Bimbo Bakeries companies are voluntarily recalling select bread products due to the possible presence of flexible wire in the bread caused by a faulty screen at a third party flour mill, according to a release from the company. Multiple products with "Best By" dates prior to and including Feb. 20 are being recalled in Pennsylvania, including the following: According to the release, consumers who have purchased the recalled product can return the product to its place of purchase for a full refund. Baby Spinach Recalled Over Potential E. Coli Contamination

Organic baby spinach being recalled may be contaminated with Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli.

Taylor Farms Retail is voluntarily recalling select Organic Baby Spinach products with the potential to be contaminated with Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli, or EHEC, according to a news release from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. EHEC is a strain of E. coli. Symptoms of the diseases caused by EHEC include abdominal cramps and diarrhea that may in some cases progress to bloody diarrhea. Fever and vomiting may also occur. Multiple products are being recalled, but the only one sold in Pennsylvania and included in the recall is Taylor Farms Organ Baby Spinach 16 oz. trays. Glass Scare Prompts Lean Cuisine Recall

Three consumers reported finding glass in their ravioli.

The following information is provided by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration: Nestlé Prepared Foods Company today announced the voluntary recall of two production codes of LEAN CUISINE® Culinary Collection Mushroom Mezzaluna Ravioli, UPC 13800-58358. The production codes are 2311587812 and 2312587812; the “best before date” appears as DEC 2013. The voluntary recall is limited to these two days of production, which were distributed nationwide. Dog Treats Recalled for Possible Mold

The FDA is recalling dog treats sold at PetSmart because of a mold risk.

  The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall for dog treats sold at PetSmart stores in Pennsylvania and 35 other states. The recall applies to 7.5 oz. bags of DogCandy® Holiday Hound Cake and Blueberry Hound Cake because the cakes have the potential to become moldy.   The FDA reports that the recall applies to a single production run and packed in a 7.5 ounce paw print bag marked with a best by date of 08-2015. RECALL: 5,000 Pounds of Frozen Chicken Dinners Recalled, Possible Listeria

Peanut Butter Plant to Trader Joe's, Whole Foods Shut by FDA

The Sunland Inc. plant that distributes products to Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Target, Safeway and others is linked to Salmonella contamination that made at least 41 people ill in 20 states.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced Monday that it has blocked food distribution from the Sunland Inc. peanut butter plant in New Mexico whose products were subject to a wide recall in recent months because of salmonella contamination. The various types of Sunland peanut butter products—sold under several brands by major food retailers, including Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Target and Safeway—had been part of a voluntary recall that began in September and later was expanded to include other nut butters as well as processed nuts and peanuts. Nesquik Recalled for Salmonella Risk

A supplier's warning to Nestlé has the company asking its customers to check the NESQUIK product codes before serving up that hot chocolate.

  Check the label before seving your kids hot chocolate this morning. Nestlé USA announced the voluntary recall of limited quantities of Nestlé Nesquik® Chocolate Powder in the 10.9, 21.8 and 40.7 ounce canisters. According to the FDA's website, the voluntary recall is limited to only Nesquik Chocolate Powder, which was distributed nationally. No other varieties of Nesquik powder or any sizes or flavors of Nesquik ready-to-drink are affected by this recall. Nestlé said it is removing the canisters from distribution because the company was notified by an ingredient supplier, Omya Inc. that it has issued a recall of certain lots of its ingredient, calcium carbonate due to possible presence of salmonella.
