Pennsylvania’s governor announces his plan to privatize liquor sales and a poll shows voters favor privatization. What do you think?
The idea of privatizing Pennsylvania’s liquor stores is not new. The majority of voters support the idea, according to a Franklin & Marshall College Poll. Of those polled, 34 percent strongly supported and 19 percent somewhat supported privatization, while 10 percent somewhat opposed and 24 percent strongly opposed. Historic data shows an interesting swing in support. The combined support of both strongly and somewhat was 53 percent in this February 2012 poll and in a June 2002 poll, the combines support was 55 percent, but the breakdown was different. 1800 Tequila recalled due to glass fragments.
In an alert to consumers, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Friday announced a voluntary product recall for three types of tequila, according to a news release. Due to "potential glass particles in the bottle," the LCB recalled 1800 Tequila 1.75 Liter Silver, Reposado and Coconut. "It is believed the percentage of affected bottles is low and there have been no reports of consumer injuries," the LCB said. Parent company Agavera Camichines said 1800 Tequila could have been potentially damaged "during transportation and handling to glass stoppers in the bottle may have caused the presence of small particles of glass that could pose a health risk." PA Liquor Control Board launches searchable app.
Need some wine, but unfamiliar with the area? There's an app for that. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board released an app for iPhone users that brings Fine Wine & Good Spirits to your pocket. In Chestnut Hill, residents probably have a good working knowledge that the state store are located at the Top of the Hill Shopping Center. However, the searchable features from the app will tell you there are nearby shops at 7204 Germantown Ave. in Mt. Airy, 4177 Ridge Ave. in East Falls, and 135 West Chelten Ave. in Germantown. Better yet, the app is helpful in even more unfamiliar terrain—like it Hershey or Altoona. The idea of privatizing Pennsylvania’s liquor, iam in favor of it, the state should not be running liquor stores. why does not the retail clerks union buy some of the state stores so they can be employee owned and operated ? liquor control board is another group that should dissolved .   more ›
