The Ned Wold Plant Sale is pushed back to Sunday.
Citing the weather forecast, organizers of the Ned Wolf Plant Sale have pushed back the event until Sunday. Saturday's forecast calls for thunderstorms with a chance of rain at 80 percent. Not to worry though, because the sale will still happen at the park on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The sale will feature hundreds of plants for sale including perennials, sun and shade plants, shrubs, annuals and more. Ned Wolf Park is located in Mt. Airy at the intersection of McCallum and West Ellet streets. All proceeds from sale benefit the Friends of Ned Wolfe Park, and the annual plant sale is their largest fundraiser. Sunday's forecast calls for mostly sunny weather with a high of 64 degrees.

Friends of the park install new steps.
Members of the Friends of Ned Wolf Park had new steps installed at the park located at McCallum and West Ellet streets on Tuesday. The old steps had become cracked and hazardous as well as slippery. Funding for the project came from the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation. The steps were made with schist, a type of rock common to the Wissahickon area. The new steps marked the end of phase one for park renovations. The friends of the park still need $17,000 to complete phase II. According to the friends of the park: This second phase will include a 48' continuous seating surface on top of a schist retaining wall, meant to encourage the community to gather around Ned Wolf Parks central terrace.

Neighbors find other uses for the park as well. On a given day, you might catch a tai chi group doing their morning exercises or toddlers from a nearby day care center climbing on the benches. Occasionally, organized events like a clothesline art sale fill the space with …
