This is the third theft there in just over a month.
Another week, another robbery at the Radha-Krishna Temple on West Allens Lane. The temple was recently hit for the second time in a week when a lockbox was broken into and $100 was stolen from there sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. A window on the site was discovered to have been pried open, according to police. Police said two fingerprints were lifted from the scene. A person had kicked in a door at the temple April 22, but nothing was taken then and no one gained access to the building, which is open to the public. Police said $60 from its donation box, as well as a vase, were taken from inside in March by a thief. Holy Cross School recently had a laptop stolen from inside its premises, and Holy Cross Church had its …

Mary Rochford will leave at the end of the school year.
Archdiocese of Philadelphia Superintendent Mary E. Rochford said she will leave the body at the end of the school year. "It has been my privilege to serve in the ministry of Catholic education for almost 40 years. A long time ago, when I was very young, a wise woman religious told me, 'Remember, you are only a useless servant.' I have kept that in mind and worked as diligently as I could for the sake of the children and now I leave for the sake of my family," she said in a statement released by the Archdiocese. The Archdiocese accepted her resignation with "great reluctance," and said her decision was made in order to devote time to providing physical care for members of her family unable to do so on their own. Principal Bryan Werner talks about Sophia, the new academic initiative the school will pilot next year..
A new academic program set to be unveiled for the 2012-13 school year helped improve the Holy Cross School's case for remaining open then, according to the school's principal. The school was originally slated to close after a Blue Ribbon Commission report came out Jan. 6 that recommended it merge with Our Mother of Consolation (OMC) in Chestnut Hill. But the school appealed the decision, saying OMC wouldn't be big enough to hold both schools. Officials, however, made sure to point out that a new academic program would come to Holy Cross next year. That initiative, called the Sophia program, is intended to be a math and language centered program that futher prepared students for college preparatory high schools. Principal Bryan Werner said …
