Arrest Made in Day Care Burglary, Police Say

A man is arrested for his role in an April 7 burglary.

Officers of the 14th Police District of Philadelphia have made an arrest in a burglary that occurred at 6110 Germantown Ave. on April 7. According to police, surveillance footage showed a man forcing open the front door of the Kids Are Fit Day Care Center at 6:25 a.m.. Once inside, police say the man took a desktop computer and placed it in his shoulder bag. Once he obtained the computer, the man fled south on Germantown Ave., police say. Officers arrested the man on April 15, at 9 p.m.  Police found the man hiding in the third floor closet of his home.

Two Arrested for Role in Burglary, Police Say

A West Allens Lane apartment building was targeted March 17.

Police officers in the 14th District have arrested two Philadelphia men in connection with the recent burglary of an apartment building on West Allens Lane. About 3 a.m. March 17, surveillance footage captured two men forcing open the front door of the “E” building at 126 West Allens Lane, police say. After forcing open the door, the two men entered the building.  Police say they then left the building and returned just a few minutes later with bolt cutters. Once inside, police say, the two men stole sections of copper pipe valued at $70. An officer at the 14th district recognized the two men from the surveillance video before the arrest was made. Both men were arrested without incident and charged with burglary and related offenses.

Police Seek Help in Identifying Burglar

Police are searching for a man who broke into a day care early Monday morning.

Police of the 14th District in Philadelphia want help in identifying a man who broke into a day care center on Germantown Ave. on April 7. According to police, surveillance video captured a man breaking into the Kids Are Fit Day Care Center located at 6110 Germantown Ave. at 6:25 a.m. Once inside the man took a desktop touch-screen computer and then fled south on Germantown Ave, police say. Police Ask for Help Identifying Burglars

Surveillance tape caught two burglars breaking into an apartment on West Allens Lane, police say.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s 14th District is asking for the public’s help in identifying two burglars who broke into an apartment building on March 17. Surveillance video captured two men forcing open the front door of apartment building E located at 126 West Allens Lane at 3 a.m., police say. The two men entered the building for a short while and then exited with sections of copper pipe, police say, fleeing in an unknown direction.  Below is the description of the two men from the Philadelphia Police Department. Alarm Scares Off Burglar, Police Say

An iPhone is also stolen from a coat pocket.

Theft: On March 17, at approximately 2 p.m., police received a report of a theft in the 7100 block of Germantown Ave.  According to police, a woman placed her iPhone in her coat pocket and then placed the coat on a rack while she worked out at a gym.  When she came back for the jacket, the phone was missing from the coat. Burglary: On March 17, at approximately 5:40 a.m., police responded to a burglary alarm in the 6900 block of Anderson Street.  According to police, the homeowner told officers that he saw the burglar inside his home after the alarm went off.  Police say that the homeowner told officers that the burglar then fled the scene in a light colored SUV out of the rear driveway of the home.  Police say nothing was taken, and that …

$10,000 Worth of Copper Pipe Stolen, Police Say

Police say a burglar steals copper piping from a home in Mt. Airy.

Theft from Vehicle: On March 1, at approximately 7 a.m., police received a report of a theft from a vehicle in the 1140 block of East Hartwell Lane.  According to police, the victim parked her car in her driveway at 9 p.m., on Feb. 28.  When she returned to the car the morning the car door was open and her GPS system was missing.  There was no other damage to the vehicle. Burglary: On Feb. 22, at approximately 1 p.m. police received a report of a theft from a home located in the 300 block of East Hortter Street.  According to police, an unknown person entered the premises through a first floor window and stole power tools, copper pipes, a television and a watch.  Police estimate the value of the stolen items to be more than $10,000.

Oven Stolen from Home in West Mt. Airy

Also in this week's police blotter, items were stolen from a home after the door was kicked in.

Burglary: On Feb 16, at approximately 4 p.m., Philadelphia police responded to the 1300 block of Narragansett Street for a report of a burglary.  According to police, the victim was checking on her property when she discovered the front door had been kicked in.  Police say that the living room had been ransacked and a Dell computer had been stolen.  Police took finger prints off of a ceramic piggy bank. Advanced Dental Designs Buglarized

A burglar attempts to steal from a dental office.

Burglary: Last week an employee of The Cedar House Café located at 200 West Northwestern Avenue entered the business at 8:00 a.m. and observed several store products missing and the café in disarray.  The owner was contacted and surveillance film revealed four individuals entering the rear of the property and looting the store products.  The estimated value of the products stolen is $200. Burglary: On Feb. 16, at approximately 4:20 a.m., Philadelphia police responded to a burglary alarm at 6629 Germantown Avenue.  Upon arrival police were given access to the business.  A walk through was conducted, and police found that a rear window had been broken.  The owner of the business then arrived on the scene and verified to police that nothing …

Cash Register Stolen in Roller's Burglary

The burglary was reported July 14.

On Saturday morning, the manager of Roller's Express-O came in to find a crime scene. According to police, the manager reported July 14, 5 a.m., that someone broke a plate glass window on the front door of the restaurant, located at the corner of Gravers Lane and Germantown Avenue. The burglar entered and took the cash register, which according to police, contained two blank checks and two paychecks belonging to an employee. The combined value of the register and checks was reported at $1,000. Accoring to police, no alarm went off during the burglar and there is no video available of the incident. The incident is under investigation by Northwest Detectives unit.

$50,000 in Valuables Reported Stolen in Burglary

The burglary was reported June 13.

A resident of the 400 block of West Chestnut Hill Avenue went into the 14th District police station June 13, 3 p.m., to report a burglary. The woman noticed that $50,000 in sterling silver items, watches and women's jewelry was missing from her home, police said. The woman reported that the items went missing sometime in the last month, and there were no apparent signs of forced entry at her home, police said.
