Grocery Store Hours: 4th of July

Need some last minute supplies, but not sure what's open on the holiday? Here's the list.

Police, PennDOT to Target Drunken Drivers

The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” initiative is set to run through July 8.

The following information comes from a release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. State and local police, along with PennDOT, will take part in a national enforcement effort through July 8 targeting motorists who drive under the influence. The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement effort will focus on keeping Pennsylvania’s roads safe during the Independence Day travel period. “Many people will celebrate and travel for the Independence Day holiday,” PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch said in a release. “Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs puts your life and the lives of those around you in danger.” “Motorists must understand that alcohol and driving never mix,” said State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan …

If it is then stay the night wherever you are. Don't endanger my life and the lives of the responsible people that actually benefit our society. Fireworks and Sparklers: Fun Treat vs Potential Danger

How do you handle the pyrotechnics around the 4th of July and your kids?

It’s the 4th of July and that means barbecues, fireworks and maybe even sparklers. Here’s the guidance from the Consumer Product Safety Commission: Always have an adult supervise fireworks activities. Parents don't realize that young children suffer injuries from sparklers. Sparklers burn at temperatures of about 2,000 degrees - hot enough to melt some metals.     I remember playing with sparklers as a kid and loving it, but when my son gets old enough, I’m not sure exactly how I will handle it. PennDOT Offices Closed on July 4th

Online services to remain available.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that all driver license and photo centers, including its full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed Wednesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.  Customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website, www.dmv.state.pa.us. Online services include driver’s license and photo ID renewals; vehicle registration renewals; driver-history services; changes of address; driver license and vehicle registration restoration letters; ability to pay driver license restoration fee or vehicle financial responsibility restoration fee; and exam scheduling.  There are no additional fees for using online …

Fourth of July Fireworks Displays

This Independence Day, don't settle for fireworks in your backyard.  The Wawa Welcome America! festival will provide plenty of activities in our nation's birthplace, starting June 26 and wrapping up on July 4 with a free concert and spectacular fireworks finale at Philadelphia Museum of Art. Fourth of July Celebrations Without Fireworks

Not a fan of fireworks? Events all over the Greater Philadelphia area celebrate Independence Day without them.

Pull out your red, white, and blue.
