NewsWorks reports that a preliminary hearing for alleged shooter Brian Tootle has been postponed.
On Wednesday, NewsWorks reported that a preliminary hearing for Brian Tootle, the East Germantown man charged in a shooting on the 200 block of E. Sharpnack Street, has been postponed by the District Attorney's office. 23-year-old Nafis Armstead was killed on July 27, while fellow victim Gerald Jones, 26, is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. According to NewsWorks, Assistant District Attorney Richard Sax requested the continuance because a witness subpoena has not yet been issued to Jones, who is still in the hospital. A walk was held in East Mt. Airy over the weekend.
Residents and officials alike came together in East Mt. Airy on Tuesday, near where a shooting took place just over a week ago. Newsworks has the full story. Councilwoman Cindy Bass and 14th Police District Capt. Joel Dales joined residents to walk near the 200 block of East Sharpnack Street in an effort to bring the community together in the wake of the shooting. Nafis Armstead, 23, was killed, while another man was injured. Police arrested Brian Tootle, 19, in connection with the crime. To read the full article, click here.

Brian Tootle has been arrested.
Police have identified the man they arrested in connection with a deadly shooting on the 200 block of East Sharpnack Street Friday night. A Newsworks article said Brian Tootle, 19, whose residence is in Germantown, has been charged with weapons possession (but not with homicide). The article also said Nafis Armstead, 23, was shot and killed Friday. A second victim remains in critical condition. Police arrested Tootle on Rosemary Lane in West Mt. Airy as police surrounded him there (a helicopter was used in as well) soon after the shooting just after 8:30 p.m. on Friday. They said they recovered two guns after the shooting.

The West Mt. Airy Neighbors did so.
West Mt. Airy Neighbors sent out a crime alert in the wake of Friday night's shooting on the 200 block of East Sharpnack Street that left one man dead and another injured. They did so because one of the suspected shooters was arrested in West Mt. Airy, on the 200 block of Rosemary Lane. At least two others were at large. Here's what the alert said: A shooting took place Friday night on East Sharpnack St. The suspects fled in a green minivan that was stopped on Rosemary Lane off Emlen St. One suspect was arrested as police cars and a helicopter searched the area.
