A man's vehicle breaks down and is taken while the owner searches for help.
A man reported his car stolen near the intersection of Johnson Street and Germantown Avenue, on May 5, at approximately 8 p.m. The man told police that the car had broken down, and that he had pulled it over to the side of the road. The man told police that the engine was blown. When he returned to the vehicle later the same evening, it had been stolen, police said.

A woman wakes up to find her outdoor furniture missing.
A Mt. Airy woman told police that her porch furniture had been stolen overnight the morning of May 7. The woman, who lives in the unit block of Gowen Circle, last saw her furniture the night of May 6, at 10 p.m., police said. The next morning she went to take her dog for a walk at 7 a.m., and the furniture was gone, police said. Police valued the furniture at $600.

A man uses a hole to gain access to a business on Germantown Avenue.
A man broke into the offices of the Philadelphia Sunday Sun located at 661 Germantown Ave. by creating a whole in the wall, police said. The general manager of The Sun was walking to the upstairs kitchen on May 5, when he discovered a hole in the wall between his property and the property located at 6659. Someone used the hole to gain access to the The Sun's office from an adjoining abandoned property, police said. It is unknown if anything was taken at this time.

Thieves make off with a woman's barbeque grill.
An East Mt. Airy Woman told police that the barbeque grill had been stolen from her home located in the 6700 block of Bass Street on May 5. The woman told police that when she woke up at around 8 a.m. on May 5 she noticed her grill was missing. Police said that nothing else was taken, and that the grill was worth about $85.

A woman's wallet is stolen while she teaches a class.
A thief took a pink wallet from the Allens Lane Art Center on May 2, and then used the credit cards in the wallet to make more than $3,000 in purchases, police said. The wallet was taken from a purse while the owner of the purse was inside the Allens Lane Art Center located at 601 West Allens Ln. teaching a class, police said. The credit cards were then used at the CVS located at Lincoln and Mt. Pleasant and an unknown Target store, police said.

A man is attacked with a brick while attempting to buy drugs, according to police.
A man struck another man with a brick after a drug deal went south in the 6400 block of Belfield Ave., police said. A man told police he approached another man at that address to buy drugs from him on April 30 shortly after 6:30 p.m., police said. The two men exchanged words when one of the men told the man trying to buy drugs not to run, police said. The man who wanted to buy drugs was then struck in the face three times with a brick by the other man, police said. The man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
A woman comes home from work to find her home ransacked.
A woman returned from work on April 30 to find her television and kindle stolen and her home in the 6700 block of Bass Street ransacked, police said. The resident left her home at 5:30 a.m., and when she returned home, her back door had been forced open and several items, valued at $700, were missing, police said. Police were able to take four fingerprints at the scene from a change jar in the bedroom, but anyone with more information is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s 14th District at 215-686-3140.

Theft: On April 30, at approximately 12:06 p.m., police received a report of a theft in the 7500 block of Germantown Avenue. According to police, a gym teacher at Parkway High School left his bag in the gym unattended, and when he returned to the bag, his laptop had been stolen. Burglary: On April 29, at approximately 9 p.m., police received a report of a burglary in the 200 block of East Phil Ellena Street. According to police, the resident left his home, and when he returned his front door had been forced open. Police said that several items had been stolen from the location including a computer and a flat screen television.

Theft: On April 29, at approximately 7:45 a.m., police received a report of a theft in the unit block of Pelham Road. According to police, the homeowner put several pieces of jewelry in a cup in the kitchen drawer where she always keeps them, and then she went to bed. Police said that when she awoke the next morning to put on the jewelry it was gone. The home has keyless entry, police said, and there was no sign of forced entry. Several family members know the code, police said. The stolen items consist of three rings that police valued at $10,000. According to police, a woman got into a verbal disagreement with a man who then pulled out a gun and hit her in the head with it several times. Burglary: On April 26, at approximately 7:18 p.m., police received a report of a burglary in the 6700 block of Musgrave Street. According to police, the resident came home to find the side window of her home broken. Nothing was stolen from the home except a few items of clothing.
