Taste of Chestnut Hill to Remember Fifteen Years of Service to Local Teens

The fundraiser is Sunday, from 5:30 - 8 p.m. at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.

For seven years, guests have been able to sample many Chestnut Hill, and nearby, restaurants in one place: Taste of Chestnut Hill.

This year, however, the fundraiser for the Chestnut Hill nonprofit organization Teens, Inc., has several caveats that make the event a little more memorable than in years before. The organizers will celebrate the group’s 15-year anniversary, honor its founder, Jane Becker, and remember her husband and co-founder of the group, Dick Becker, who passed away in September.

“They stayed involved, through the years. They founded it, started with four volunteers in 1996,” said Marianne Dwyer, who is now the executive director of Teens, Inc. “Jane is still on the board at this time. Jane is 80 now, and in her 70s they both were still chaperoning dances and nature walks. They wanted to be with young people, and their work just took off.”
