Have Anything 'Weird' to Recycle?

Green in Chestnut Hill prepares to collect up to 14,000 pounds of electronics Saturday.

If you’re one of those people who has an old printer in the back of a closet or a discontinued cell phone lying in a junk drawer, than Green in Chestnut Hill (GRinCH) wants to help.

The nonprofit environmental group is hosting a recycling event for all those retired electronics. Weird Waste Recycling Day is Saturday, Nov. 12, from 1 – 4 p.m, at 23 W. Highland Ave., in the parking lot next to Valley Green Bank.

GRinCH volunteers will be collecting the old computers, televisions, fax machines and other items that have been taking up space in your home. The items will then be reused or dismantled and safely recycled.

“We usually collect about 11,000 to 14,000 pounds of electronics at these recycling days,” said Amy Edelman, cofounder of GRinCH, who has been getting the word out on the event.

The group suggests and $5-20 dollar donation at the drop-ff, which is tax-deductable and goes to benefit GRinCH.
