Holiday Shopping at the Mall "Gifts or Curse?"

Holiday shopping at the mall can be a lot of fun and really get you in a great holiday mood!  The Christmas music playing, kids visiting Santa, the holiday shows and exhibits and most important  great Sales on your Gifts!  But, we must keep in mind that shopping in crowded malls can also be hectic, exhausting and dangerous – here’s where the curse comes in –Lol!  In order to avoid the Curse and the “Curse Words” during your mall shopping trip, remember your great social skills and mall etiquette!

Here a few mall etiquette tips to help make your shopping experience Fun, Exciting, Safe, Thrilling, Illuminating, Victorious & Exhilarating!  (FESTIVE)   lol!

Mall Parking - Parking lots at malls are always crowded during the holidays, be mindful of others.  Do not park in the handicapped spaces if you are not handicapped, if someone pulls into a space you were waiting to pull into, let them have it! (The space, not the finger!)   You don’t want to end up in a Parking War!

Mall Walking– If you are a slow walker or window shopper, walk closer to the walls.  This will allow less chance of you getting bumped into or slowing others down.

Waiting in Lines – Patience is the key. Stay in your place, do not get in and out of line or ask others to hold your space.  This will only cause confusion and it is disrespectful to the other shoppers.

Money & Credit Cards – Keep your money and cards in a secure place. Make sure zippers are closed on handbags and wallets are tucked away.  Unfortunately, shopping crowds draw pick pockets!

Making Your Selections – Check prices on items before getting into the line if possible.  Most department stores have installed price checking machines for the customers.  These machines  allow shoppers to make informed decisions and keep things moving quickly and smoothly.

Making Your Purchases – When making your purchases, have your form of payment ready for the cashier.  All of the last minute fumbling in your purse will cause grumbling from others in the line!

Interactions With Sales People - Don’t forget to say Hello and Thank you with a smile!  After many hours of standing and dealing with lots of different personalities, small pleasantries make a big difference!

Not in the Mood? - If you don’t feel like dealing with the crowds or the hassle of looking for parking.  Follow these tips!

  • Turn on your Laptop
  • Get your Credit Card
  • Pour a glass of wine (optional) :-)

Happy Shopping!  Stay Safe, Alert & Aware!
