Sloppy Play Leads to Germantown Football Loss
Brooker's 200 receiving yard not enough to tame Mustangs.
IN SHORT
The story in this Public League matchup came down to turnovers. Both Germantown and Lincoln had a number of hiccups and miscues that became very costly down the stretch. Ultimately, poor ball management bit the Bears, saddling them with a competitive yet sloppy 20-14 loss.
The Bears found themselves down early, but managed to squeak back into the game on a pair of senior wide receiver Myles Brooker TDs. He accounted for most if not all of the Germantown offense throughout. Sophomore QB Cedric Wright connected with Brooker on a number of exciting plays. It was almost as if anything that was thrown in the air, no matter who was guarding him, would be straddled in by the senior captain.

It wasn’t until late, that Wright underthrew a ball that was picked off by a Lincoln defender, which put the nail in the coffin for the Bears.

BEAR OF THE GAME: Senior wide receiver Myles Brooker was the standout star in this one as he put on a tremendous showing receiving the ball. Brooker was sophomore quarterback Cedric Wright’s go to guy as he manufactured over 200+ yards in just eight catches.
OTHER KEY PERFOMANCES
William Parks: If there was one man that anchored the Bears secondary it would be senior defensive back William Parks. In addition to his number of open field tackles, the experienced corner recorded two picks in the game, with 40+ return yards.
Aaron Boyd: After transitioning most of their offense in the second half to primarily running the ball, the senior halfback was able to register a modest 70+ yards on the ground.
COACH'S TAKE
"I’m disappointed about the game. It should not have come down to the last few minutes. No discredit to Lincoln. We have to take care of the minor details on both sides of the ball and simply play better."—Head Coach Michael Hawkins
THEY SAID IT
"We could have done a way better job. This just wasn’t us today; we simply laid a goose egg. In my eyes, we’re not supposed to lose any games. This week in practice we have to turn it around and address the things that we need to improve on as a team." —WR Myles Brooker
