Meet Chestnut Hill-Mt. Airy Patch's Greatest Greatest Baseball Fan

Mt. Airy resident Jim Harris was named the area's greatest baseball fan in a recent contest.

Chestnut Hill Patch recently ran a contest in search of the area's greatest baseball fan.  We asked readers to submit photos of themselves and their fandom for other readers to vote on.  Jim Harris did everyone one better by submitting a song he wrote with his band about the Phillies.  I recently asked Jim some questions about his fandom.

Patch: So you wrote a song, tell me about how that came about?

Jim: My band, Saint Mad, writes a new Phillies song every spring. This was our latest. We're all big Phillie fans.

Patch: What's your favorite Phillie memory?

Jim: I was around for the Championships in 1980 and 2008, but my favorite memory was seeing the 1993 Phils win the National Leaugue Championship. Even though they eventually lost to Toronto in the World Series, they are still my favorite Phillie team.

Patch: Who is your all-time favorite Phillie-past or present?

Jim: John Kruk, the zany first baseman for the '93 team.

Patch: What's your favorite thing about the Phillies?

Jim: The fans. Philly fans are the most passionate and knowledgeable in the country. I always have a good time when I go to a game, even when I'm sitting in the cheap seats.
