'Whiz Kid' Christine Sedlack

Editor’s Note: ‘Whiz Kid’ is a new weekly feature in which Patch will be honoring local children or teens for their accomplishments.

This week’s “Whiz Kid” is Christine Sedlack, an eighth grader at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy.

Accomplishment: Brought the “Reach Out and Read” program to her school, where she is also student council president.

Reach Out and Read is a program at Children's Hopsital of Philadelphia that seeks to collect books for underprivileged children in Philly and beyond. Children benefit by being given donated books every time they have to go to their doctor's office for a checkup.

Key to Awesomeness: We’ll let Christine tell you, since she says it best:

“When I think of awesomeness I think of you personally and the people around you being happy. I think this program is very awesome. People in a fortunate community, like my school, can reach out to others and make others happy. I think making other people happy and seeing a smile appear on those faces that mirrors yours is the key to awesomeness and happiness.”
