Rally Set to Support Superintendent Ackerman

The rally takes place at noon Friday.

School District of Philadelphia Superintendent Arlene Ackerman has taken from various groups in the past month.

But there's one group of parents that doesn't want her to go. That group is organizing a rally that will take place at school district headquarters Friday at noon.

"In 2008, fate brought a visionary to this city in Superintendent Dr. Arlene Ackerman," a news release from the group read. "Almost from the start, this well-educated black woman, who arrived here having more than previously proven her ability to turn around failing school districts, has been treated with nothing but disrespect and scorn for doing what so many should have done before her—consider what’s best for our children and make it happen."
