Philadelphia Public Schools Will Close Early Wednesday

Due to an excessive heat advisory, public schools in Philadelphia will close at 1:30 p.m.

As temperatures are expected to rise into the high 90s tomorrow, the School District of Philadelphia announced this evening that schools will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"The District is taking this heat warning seriously by closing schools, which includes early childhood programs, at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow," the district release said in a release Tuesday night.

High temperatures paired with high humidity can cause heat-related illnesses, the release added. Afterschool programs have also been cancelled. This will be the in two weeks for the school district.
