Inquirer: Ackerman to Leave Superintendent Position

The school district is expected to make an official announcement later today.

It looks like Superintendent Arlene Ackerman's time as the head of Philadelphia schools—which has turned stormy in recent weeks—has come to an end, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The paper said "multiple sources" are saying an announcement about Ackerman's departure will come later today. Both private and public funds will be used to buy out the superintendent's contract, according to the report.
