Houston School Gets $5k for the Arts

The Mt. Airy school received a grant for its music project.

Houston School students were presented with a $5,000 check by Public Citizens for Children and Youth’s Picasso Project for their arts project “RURAL LANE RECORDS.”

The 7th and 8th grade students will create, perform and record original songs onto a CD in Houston’s recording studio, Rural Lane Records. Through this project, the students have had the opportunity to experience the music production and recording process, while exploring song writing as a voice for social change in the school and community.
