Fulton Elementary Hosting 'Walk in My Shoes' Event

The Germantown Elementary School will hold a rally protesting school closures.

The following is a press release.

The Philadelphia Federation of Teachers will be hold three "Walk in My Shoes" events in advance of the scheduled March 7 vote on the closing of 37 neighborhood schools.

On February 19, 25 and 26, PFT members will be joined by parents, students, and community partners to walk from schools recommended for closure to the proposed receiving schools. The walks will demonstrate the difficulties our children face when their neighborhood schools are shut down.

WHO: PFT leaders and members; elected officials; parent, student and community groups; members of Philadelphia's faith community

WHAT: "Walk in My Shoes" rallies and marches

WHEN/WHERE: February 19, 25 and 26, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Events will take place at the following locations:

February 19: Meade Elementary School, 1600 N. 18th Street
February 25: L.P. Hill Elementary School, 3133 Ridge Avenue
February 26: Fulton Elementary School, 60 E. Haines Street
