A Museum Without Walls - Public Art in Philadelphia

Founded in 1872, the Fairmount Park Art Association is the nation's first private non- profit organization dedicated to integrating public art and urban planning. Among the pieces it has acquired over the years are works by Frederic Remington, Emmanuel Fremiet, Henry Moore, and more recently, Mark di Suvero. Every sculpture has a story. Penny Bach will discuss the people, places, and spaces that have helped to make Philadelphia a "Museum Without Walls" and talk about the Art Association's newest project that invites passersby to stop, look, listen, and experience public art in an entirely new way using interactive audio. A noted curator, writer, cultural observer, and educator, Penny has worked with organizations and communities worldwide.
