This year in the Sorgenti Arena, 50 of the top restaurants and bakeries in the Philadelphia region—including 15 from Chestnut Hill—will contribute soups, salads, and desserts to the buffet, while local potters will chip in hand-crafted clay bowls. At the end of the meal, each attendee will keep their empty bowl as a symbol of the 1,000 children in Philadelphia who go homeless or hungry each night.

"By heightening community awareness that being homeless is not just a problem in poor communities, but a growing problem everywhere, we can do more to help," said Rachel Falkove, NPIHN’s executive director. Last year Falkove's dinner was attended by 700 and raised $10,000.
