Bid in Silence Saturday to Support Jenks

The event is the first organized by Friends of John S. Jenks.

Friends of John S. Jenks is throwing its first fundraiser since Saturday, June 9. The event is called "Let There Be Music" and will take place at from 4-7 p.m.

The fundraiser will go to benefit the music and arts programs at the school. Suggested donations for entry are $20 per individual, $30 for two or $40 per family.

Along with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments amidst live music from area musicians- including a performance by J.S. Jenks music students- a silent auction full of Chestnut Hill favorites will be featured.

Children are welcome at the event, and family music and face-painting will part part of the activities.

"We've been thrilled with the reception we've had thus far from the community. The Chestnut Hill Community Association, Chestnut Hill Business Association and the Business Improvement District have all been very receptive and supportive of our efforts," said Haviva Goldman, president of the board of Friends of J.S. Jenks.

"Individual businesses up and down the Avenue have been very generous. As we have been getting the word out about our organization we have been making new connections with local businesses and organizations that we hope will grow into partnerships moving forward."
