State Rep. Cherelle Parker Charged with DUI

The representative, whose district includes Chestnut Hill, was given two chemical breath tests at police headquarters after her arrest April 30.

According to Officer Christine O’Brien, of the Philadelphia Police Department Office of Public Affairs, Parker was pulled over by officers on patrol on the 5800 block of North Baynton Street in Germantown. According to police, Parker was driving the wrong way down a one-way street.

“At that point, the officers observed that the operator appeared to be under the influence,” O’Brien read from the police report.

Shortly after 12:15 a.m., Parker was placed under arrest and transported to Philadelphia police headquarters at 750 Race Street. According to police, Parker was given two chemical breath tests. Although the results of the tests were not released, police said Parker was formerly charged with driving under the influence and arraigned.

Parker will return to court June 1 for a status hearing, according to her attorney Joseph Kelly.

"She regrets what happened. We are going to get all of the facts on what happened and address it at the appropriate time," Kelly said.

Rep. Parker’s district includes Chestnut Hill.
