Philly Politicians Hail Obama Victory

Mayor Nutter and Rep. Fattah celebrated the president's reelection.

Preceding the ultimate electoral victory for President Barack Obama, Philadelphia lawmakers successfully predicted the president's win.

Mayor Michael Nutter and U.S. Reps. Chaka Fattah and Allyson Schwartz hailed the president at the Philadelphia Obama Victory Party, located at the Warwick Hotel in Center City.

"We had some voting in the State and in Philly today," Mayor Nutter said to Obama campaign volunteers gathered to celebrate the President. "At least for tonight, blue means joy, happiness and excitement. I love a blue state and a blue city."

Nutter took time to thank member's of the President's "ground game," campaign volunteers who knocked on doors and handed out fliers in PA, crediting them a key part of the President's victory.

"[President Obama] has worked hard," he said. "He's worked for us and today we went out and worked for him. You can't stop this freight train in PA, I don't care what you do."

Congressional Representative Chaka Fattah (2-D), who also retained his office Tuesday night, thanked state volunteers as well while praising the President for his legislation in the first four years.

"Thanks to everyone in the state, and especially in Philly, for an extraordinary day." he said. "[Obama] is going to have four more years. He deserves to earn the electoral votes from PA."

U.S. Representative Allyson Schwartz (13-D) called Tuesday a "great victory for the state."

"We're seeing even more blue than people expected," she said. "We're going to hold republicans accountable, we're going to win the country and keep going forward."
