Ordinances on Bowman Project to Go Before City Council Committees

Three ordinances were introduced at the Oct. 27 City Council meeting.

Three ordinances were introduced before City Council last week relating to the former Magarity property owned by Bowman Properties.

The three ordinances were introduced by current 8th District Councilwoman Donna Reed Miller.

The first ordinance would change the zoning designation for the property, which has boundaries at Germantown Avenue and Shawnee Street, and Hartwell Lane and Southampton Avenue. The ordinance, if passed, would extend the commercial designation of the lot closer to Shawnee Street to within 76 feet.

A third ordinance would change the direction of Hartwell Lane between Shawnee Street and Germantown Avenue, if passed, to run eastbound. The ordinance was referred to the Committee on Streets and Services.

According to an article in The Chestnut Hill Local, Richard Snowden, managing partner of Bowman Properties, the plan will come before the Chestnut Hill Community Association board meeting Nov. 17, before it would reach a vote before City Council.
