More Recent Developments in the Eight District Council Race

An endorsement, a poll and an upcoming debate are among the newest developments.

Here are a few recent developments in the 8th District City Council race:

- Candidate Howard Treatman was endorsed this week by Anita Hamilton, who was originally a candidate in the race, and by Debra White-Roberts, who co-owns . White-Roberts was Hamilton's campaign manager while she was in the race. The two made the announcement during a news release Tuesday.

- The endorsement follows one by Mayor Michael Nutter, in which he endorsed Cindy Bass. Rep. Chaka Fattah and State Rep. Dwight Evans also endorsed the candidate during an event at Wired Beans Cafe April 9.

- A preliminary poll conducted of  members showed that 42.2 percent support Greg Paulmier in the race. In that poll, 28.9 percent supported Bass, 17.8 percent supported Tyner and 11.1 percent supported Treatman. (Candidates Andrew Lofton, Bill Durham and Robin Tasco were not included in the poll.). Neighborhood Networks will soon reveal the results of a runoff poll between Paulmier and Bass, which was conducted because neither received a majority of the vote.

- Newsworks will host a debate Wednesday that will feature all seven candidates in the race. It will take place at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Germantown, 35 W. Chelten Ave.
