How the Parking Authority Patrols Chestnut Hill

How has adding the Chestnut Hill Parking Foundation lots affected the Philadelphia Parking Authority in Chestnut Hill?

While the paid parking kiosks installed in Chestnut Hill lots has affected shoppers and residents of Chestnut Hill, it has not forced major changes to the way the Philadelphia Parking Authority patrols Chestnut Hill.

According to Linda Miller, a spokeswoman for the PPA, the lots were simply added to the beats of the patrolmen.

“They are assigned beats by geographical area and patrol throughout the day,” Miller said. “They just patrol the area, definitely more than two times a day.”

While the PPA gets none of the income generated by the kiosks, which were installed in April, it has not impacted the PPA in terms of taking on more work.

“Instead of just walking the street, now they might be walking on Evergreen, and then patrol the parking lot, and continue the beat,” Miller said.
