The free citywide event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Philadelphia Streets Department's Sanitation Division is holding a household hazardous waste collection event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 22 at the department's sanitation facility at 3033 S. 63rd Street.

The event, a press release stated, provides citizens with an opportunity to recycle or dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste. Citzens can bring old and unused cans of oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides, flammable liquids such as gasoline and kerosene, used oil, anti-freeze and brake fluid.

So far this year, the waste collection program has disposed of 210,000 pounds of hazardous material and 50,000 pounds of computers, the release stated.
