Fattah Keeps Northwest Philly, Expands into 'Burbs

Redistricting plan maintains most of 2nd District in the area.

Though the second congressional district in Pennsylvania may shift, Rep. Chaka Fattah (D) should keep Roxborough, Manayunk, Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill if a proposed redistricting plan is approved.

According to a plan introduced by General Assembly Republicans and detailed by PoliticsPa.com, Fattah would maintains his local borders in Northwest Philadelphia. Currently, Fattah's district only dips into the suburbs at Cheltenham Township in Montgomery County.

Under the Republican plan, the second district would extend to cover nearly all of Lower Merion Township and Narberth and vacate Cheltenham. The territory covers 705,688 citizens.
