Chestnut Hill Subdivision Put on Hold

A proposed subdivision at 179 Hillcrest Ave. has been put on hold so that the developer can meet with the community.

A proposed subdivision at 179 Hillcrest Ave. in Chestnut Hill has been put on hold as the developer would like more time to receive community input.

“The developer would like to meet with the neighbors, and that’s the reason for the delay,” said Chestnut Hill Land Use Planning and Zoning Committee member Larry McEwen.  “He wants to through the entire process to show the zoning hearing board that he worked through the community.”

Several neighbors adjacent to the property said that they would be willing to meet with the developer, but they didn’t think it was fair for him to back out of an already scheduled meeting with the land use committee.

The committee acknowledged the neighbor’s disappointment, but they added that they would be willing to meet with both sides as the project moves forward.

“We’re happy to meet; we’re happy to mediate,” said committee member Joyce Lenhardt.  “But both sides need to communicate.”

Originally, the developer was scheduled to make his formal presentation to the committee on Thursday to fulfill a new city zoning rule that all developers meet with the community.

However, the developer delayed his upcoming zoning hearing and communicated to the land use committee that he intended to start the process from the beginning before continuing on to the zoning hearing board.
