Ackerman Speaks Out Against Her Critics

She calls out Mayor Michael Nutter.

Arlene Ackerman has called Mayor Michael Nutter's protests against her application for unemployment benefits "disingenuous," according to a Philadelphia Inquirer article.

Ackerman emailed the Inquirer to make her case that the media isn't treating her fairly and that Nutter knew she was eligible to apply fo the benefits.

Her lawyer, meanwhile, said the former superintendent was taking what was rightfully hers.

Nutter had called Ackerman's decision "astounding," and state Rep. Michael McGeehan has called on the state to deny Ackerman's application.

A student from , meanwhile, weighed in on the matter in the article, saying the school's students "barely have enough for books."
