A New Deadline For the School District

The city and state want the district to provide them with certain information by June 15.

The School District of Philadelphia's School Reform Commission (SRC) met one city deadline Thursday. It now faces another one next week.

An  will allow the government entities to have greater oversight over what the district does.

It also means the district will need to provide the city and state with certain information by Wednesday, according to the agreement. That information includes:

  • Detailed financial information from all facets of the district's operations;
  • Reports on the performance levels of the district's various schools and programs;
  • Information about district facilities;
  • Information about district vendors (like consultants);
  • Data about proposed cuts in administrative staff;
  • "A list of all non-union, non-instructional employees whose compensation is $90,000 or above;"
  • Salary and benefit information for department heads, managers and other administrative staff.

SRC and school district staff will also be required to meet with state and city officials at least once a month.

According to the agreement, the city and state will also have broad authority to look at the district's finances whenever they choose.

The agreement, as it stands, will last through 2016.
