A Guide to What You Need to Know on Primary Day

Polling locations, who's running and more.

This year's primary feels like a bit of a sideshow, with Mitt Romney now the clear favorite to take the Republican nomination for president.

But there are still a number of key races Tuesday that will have an effect on Chestnut Hill residents. State Reps. Rosita Youngblood is being challenged in her bid for re-election. (State Rep. Cherelle Parker, meanwhile, was initially being challenged, but her opponent, Bobbie Curry, was recently removed from the ballot. You can see that here.)

There are several other statewide competitions going on, and there will be races between delegates looking to attend the Democratic and Republican National Conventions over the summer.

Democrats are having their own primary, while Republicans are having theirs. That means you can't vote in both races—you'll vote for candidates in the party in which you're registered.

Here's a breakdown of who's running (information courtesy Committee of Seventy; you can find a full breakdown on this election's procedures on its website). Incumbents' names are italicized:

198th Legislative District (click for a preview): Rosita Youngblood, Malik Boyd, Charisma Presley (Democrats).

200th Legislative District (click for a preview): Cherelle Parker (Democrat).

State Attorney General (click for a preview): Kathleen Kane, Patrick Murphy (Democrats); David Freed (Republican).

President (vote for one per party): Barack Obama (Democrat); Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich (Republicans).

2nd Congressional District: Chaka Fattah (Democrat); Robert Mansfield (Republican).

U.S. Senate: Bob Casey, Joe Vodvarka (Democrats); David Christian, Sam Rohrer, Marc Scaringi, Tom Smith, Steve Welch (Republicans).

Treasurer: Robert McCord (Democrat); Diana Irey Vaughan (Republican).

Auditor General: Eugene DePasquale (Democrat); John Maher, Frank Pinto (Republicans).

There are also a variety of polling locations throughout Chestnut Hill (and take note that several of them have changed since this year's primary; those that did change are marked with an asterisk). Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The locations are as follows (courtesy Committee of Seventy):

- Ward 9 Division 4 residents vote at , 100 Mermaid Lane.

- Ward 9 Division 5 residents vote at the , Hartwell Street and Ardleigh Street.

- Ward 9 Division 6 residents vote at the , 8711 Germantown Ave.

- Ward 9 residents in Divisions 7 and 8 vote at , 22 E. Chestnut Hill Ave.

- Ward 9 Division 9 residents vote at the Fire Engine Co. #37, 101 W. Highland Ave.

- Ward 9 residents in Divisions 10 and 11 vote at , 8000 St. Martin's Lane.

- Ward 9 Division 16 residents vote at the , 7800 B Stenton Ave.

- Ward 9 Division 17 residents vote at the 7600 Stenton Ave.
