Watch Out for Track Team Scam

A man posing as a representative for the Mt. Airy Track Team is soliciting donations door to door.

Several Mt. Airy residents report having been approach by a man posing as a representative of the Mt. Airy Track Team who is seeking donations for the organization.

There is no such thing as the “Mt. Airy Track Team.”  There is a Mt. Airy Track Club, but they do not solicit donations door to door.

If a man or woman comes to your door seeking a donation for the Mt. Airy Track Team do not give him or her money.

Several residents report asking the man for tax I.D. information so they could write-off the donation, but the man refused to give it.

Residents also say that the man does not have any literature on him about the team.

If anyone comes to your door seeking donations for the track team, please call the police.

Also, do not yell at or confront the person because doing so may be unsafe.  Politely say no, and call the police.
