UPDATED: Sovereign Bank on Germantown Avenue Robbed at Gunpoint

Police confirm the bank was robbed this afternoon.

, 8623 Germantown Avenue, was robbed Tuesday afternoon by two males, according to police. 

The FBI confirmed that two males entered the bank at 12:57 p.m. Captain Joel Dales, of the 14th District, said that at least one of the suspects was armed with what appeared to be a shotgun.

While one of the suspected brandished the dark-colored shotgun, the second suspect jumped the counter and took an undisclosed amount of cash. Although there were patrons inside the bank at the time of the robbery, there were no injuries, according to the FBI.

"I wouldn't say there was a lot of people in the bank, but there were definitely some," he said. 

The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money through the parking lot behind the bank to Evergreen Avenue. Police are looking for a silver sedan with dark, tinted windows that they believe was involved in the getaway. The suspects got into the car, which has been described as possibly a Pontiac Grand Am, and drove south on Ardleigh Street.

The two males were caught on video camera inside the bank and in the parking lot behind the bank, police said. The FBI released a description and pictures of the suspects, which can be seen here.
