Resident Tricked into Giving Money, Police Say

The following information is provided by the Philadelphia Police Department.

An area resident was allegedly swindled out of $20, according to a release from the Philadelphia Police Department.

According to reports, an unknown male approached a house on the 400 block of Wadsworth Avenue and upon encountering a homeowner, told the resident that he worked for a towing company. The man then told the resident that a neighbor had been in an auto accident and asked for $20 to pay the balance for the towing. the resident discovered afterwards that the neighbor had never been in an accident.

Police advise that residents be mindful of incidents that may be similar to this one.
