Purse Snatching, Car Theft, according to Police
The following information is provided by the Philadelphia Police Department.
Purse Snatching: A resident reported that her purse was snatched while walking in East Mt. Airy, according to a release from the Philadelphia Police Department.
According to reports, an area resident told police that she was walking east on Phil Ellena street at approximately 6 p.m. on Dec 17 when an unknown man approached her and forcefully took her purse. The woman reported that $50 in items and cash were in the purse at the time of theft.
The man, described by police as approximately 5'8" and thin, ran toward Crittenden Street. He was last seen wearing dark cloths and a knit cap.
Theft from Car: A Northwest resident reportedly lost nearly $600 in items when her car was broken into on Germantown Avenue in Chestnut Hill, according to a release from the Philadelphia Police Department.

According to reports, the resident parked their car on the 8500 block of Germantown Avenue at 6:30 a.m. on Dec 9 and, when returning to the car on Dec 11, the driver-side window had been broken open and several items had been taken.
The resident reported that approximately $575 in items and clothing had been taken from the car, including an iPhone, a GPS and a Bluetooth speaker system.
